Bye, Bye Frizz

The No-Frills Guide For Smooth, Silky Hair All Year Round

Frizz - the one word that sends chills down our spines. Why you may ask? Notorious for being stubborn and unruly, nearly all of us have experienced it in one way or another. Whether it is from being in a humid environment (hello Queensland!) to those cold winter months that can dry out your hair, we just can’t seem to catch a break.

Well, we’ve spoken to the industry’s best to give you the 101 guide on how to tame frizz for good. From washing to styling, these tips will ensure you say bye bye to frizz for good and hello to luscious, smooth silky hair no matter the season. Now show your frizz who is boss!

washing hair

#1 Wash your hair - the right way

Frizz is notorious for being stubborn so starting off on the right foot makes all the difference. Prevent unruly frizz from the get-go by washing your hair - wisely. How so you may ask?

Keep your shower temperature to a minimum (lukewarm at least) since hot showers can cause the hair cuticle to raise and leave the core of the hair fibre vulnerable, and needing more moisture. Also, be mindful of how often you wash your hair as daily shampooing can strip the hair of its natural oils. This can lead to dryness and overall damage which will cause unruly frizz to form.

For best results and depending on your hair type, we recommend washing your hair every other day. If you need to wash your hair daily, we recommend gentle care shampoo like our new Frizz Control Smoothing Shampoo. This anti-frizz shampoo is the ideal cleanser to tame

stubborn frizzy hair and increase hair smoothness. With cationic cellulose compounds to balance out hair structure to provide an anti-humidity effect and Sweet almond oil calms and conditions hair for a smooth, silky finish.

#2 Hydrate, Hydrate and Hydrate

While it is known that humidity is one of the top causes for frizz, the main cause is actually dehydration of the hair strands. Dehydration and dryness of the hair causes it to absorb excess moisture from the environment which results in one word: frizz. Combat this with a hydrating conditioner like our new Frizz Control Smoothing Conditioner, which uses innovative anti-static technology from Cationic guar to balance out hair structure and has an anti-humidity effect to reduce stubborn frizz. With ultra-light rapeseed oil glycerides to stabilise the hair’s moisture balance and supplies it with valuable lipids to seal the hair’s surface without weighing it down.

The end result? Hair becomes smoother, soft and stylable. Yes, yes and yes!

hydrate the cuticles

3# Seal those cuticles

Anti-frizz care doesn’t just stop at washing! One of the best ways to ensure your hair is frizz-free is to seal in your cuticles to lock in the moisture right after you shower. For best results, we recommend either a moisturising hair serum or lotion like our new Frizz Control Smoothing Styling Fluid to lubricate the hair and seal the hair’s outer layer against humidity to prevent frizz. This light fluid with anti-static effect from cationic guar actively prevents frizz while moisture-binding substances provide weightless hydration. Plus with Natural Sugar Polymers, it is the perfect anti-frizz styling lotion to smooth the hair’s surface and provide flexible hold for silky, smooth hair all day long.

Bonus tip: For extra hydration, we recommend mixing it with our Long Hair Weightless Conditioning Oil for a soft, glossy finish and can be used before blow-drying as an intensive shine care.

heat protection

4# Go easy on the heat

Heat styling can burn the hair cuticles and opens it up leaving it prone to dryness and frizz. We recommend keeping it to a minimum and if you must use heat styling tools, use them on a low temperature setting. Protect your silky tresses against heat damage with our Heat Protector - this spray lotion has a 2-phase formulation to create a barrier against heat while sealing moisture into the hair and prevents dehydration. Plus, it is suitable for all hair types!

Bonus Tip: For curly manes, we recommend using a diffuser on a cool setting when blow-drying for frizz-free, coiled tresses.

no flyaways

5# Silk is your new best friend

Protecting your long tresses while you sleep is a necessary step in your anti-frizz hair routine. Steer clear of cotton fabric pillowcases as they soak up the hair’s natural oils and cause moisture depletion, leaving your hair at risk of hair breakage and frizz. For best protection, we recommend sleeping on a silk pillowcase to prevent hair breakage and stop moisture loss. This will also help reduce the friction your hair is exposed to throughout the night and it won’t absorb all those hair-loving nutrients you applied prior to your beauty rest.

6# Keep on top of those trim days

Mark those hair trim days in your calendar now! By not regularly trimming, you are at risk of breakage since split ends can travel up your hair which causes frizz and flyaways to form. Avoid this by trimming your ends every few weeks so you can stay on top of those split ends and keep your luscious locks smooth and silky.
